Summer is finally here! Memorial day weekend has come and gone and we are moving into my favorite months of the year in Minnesota; seriously take the picture above and times it by 10 and that’s how excited I am!!!

I’m also pretty excited about something else that happened this past month…I got my period! Yup, I’m throwing myself a moon party and getting real personal in this post.

3 things i personally love right now

i got my period! i know this may be a little {or a lot} tmi; but i also know that i’m not the only athletic lady out there struggling with regular periods so we’re getting personal. It’s been 4+ years since I’ve had a period. To some this may sound great, and at first it was. In fact, when I was competing in fitness competitions I thought that not getting a period meant my body fat percentage was low enough. Fast forward a couple years and a couple doctor visits later and I realized that my female hormones and thyroid counts where way too low which could effect my future fertility. So being a bit on the hippie side I started doing my research as I wanted to get my period back naturally.

After a full year of taking Femmenessence Macaharmony {raw maca} and Vitex Fruits {chaste tree berry} supplements, gaining 15 healthy pounds, frequenting Stephanie’s Rock Your Hormones blog and podcast, and two miscarriages and lots of prayers and stress decreasing activities I finally got my period on May 4th! Yay for healthy hormones!

I should mention I’ve also purchased the Healthy Mammas Happy Baby virtual pregnancy program created by Stephanie and Melissa Hartwig of Whole 30; it’s an amazing support system of future and current mothers {several of which have also dealt with hypothalamic amenorrhea and/or miscarriage}.

our new home! Mr. Handsome and I officially closed on our new home and moved in. Well, kind of moved in, we are adding a bathroom to the master bedroom so we are still living out of boxes. But I’ve jumped full force into domestication. If you follow me on Instagram or snapchat {@lindseybomgren} you know I’ve learned how to grill, mow the lawn with a push mower {which is a workout with our hilly yard}, and even weed whip. #wifeoftheyear ?

Summer is officially here. I grew up on a lake and I absolutely love summers in MN. After spending just one night at my parents house on the lake this past Memorial Day weekend, it’s official, there’s no place in the world I’d rather be than on the lake with my family!

Nourished 7-day refresh ebook. Isn’t the cover beautiful? I’ve been working on this beauty with dietitian stacie for several months and although our busy schedules and travels have delayed the launch, it’s actually happening in June! Stay tuned for more details landing in your inbox soon.

In the meantime, if you want to mark your calendars we are doing a kick off event at haute barre studios on Thursday, June 16th. And we will be launching our first community 7-day refresh on Monday, June 20th to get you bikini-body ready for the Fourth of July!

Starting an herb garden. My dad built me this beautiful, three-tiered herb garden and I’m so excited to grow my own herbs, but I don’t have a clue what I’m doing. So if there are any green thumbs or garden bloggers out there with tips on how to get started, please comment below! I need help, especially if I’m going to put in a full garden next year.

Letting my opportunities define my growth. I’m a type-a planner through and through. Just ask my husband; I ask him, ‘what’s your plan’ too many times a day. But when it comes to being a fitness entrepreneur and growing this blog, well, ‘the plan’ changes frequently. For example, at the beginning of May I signed a contract to be a Victoria Secret Sport Rep. I was supposed to fly out to NYC for a big launch event and shopping spree. But then Victoria Secret restructured and turns out they are cutting the sport line {and swimsuit line} so the Rep program got cancelled. Of course I was bummed as this would have been a great opportunity for me, but clearly it wasn’t meant to be and I’m hoping I’ll land another national brand partnership in the near future.

All that said, when I started this blog I committed to not shopping for one year since I was majorly slashing my income. And in the past year I’ve won a shopping spree to Christopher & Banks as part of The Amazing Woman Award, become a brand ambassador for Branded by J. Otto and Carlyddesign who outfitted me with their women’s lines, received another shopping spree to Victoria Secret Sport in lieu of the rep program {hence my recent workout posts in VSX gear}, and I’ve opened numerous other freebie packages that have landed on my doorstep from brands I love. Although I love the freebies, my point is, God provides. I feel like I’m on the right path and it’s little reminders like this — taking a shopping hiatus and getting more clothes in that timeframe than I’ve ever purchased in my life — that make me believe I’m on the right path and the right opportunities will come my way {and most likely ones that I haven’t planned for}.

  • halo top ice cream: this healthier version of ice cream has taken over my instagram feed; so naturally I had to try it. And i can see why people are raving about it — with only 60 calories and 4-5 grams of sugar per serving it’s topping the ice cream ‘healthy’ charts. Not to mention it’s pretty tasty too {and they have a birthday cake flavor which won me over}! All that said, it’s still ice cream people, and it’s sweetened with stevia and about 5 grams of sugar alcohol per serving, so don’t let the overflowing pints on instagram fool you into making this a daily dessert.
  • califia farms cold brews: as you may have seen, i recently got my hands on the new califia farms full shot cold brew; loaded with 6 grams of protein {Pea + Sprouted Brown Rice Protein} and 2 grams of MCT’s {Medium Chain Triglycerides aka healthy fats}. A delicious pre-workout boost. I also love their black + white cold brew coffee with almond milk.

  4. Yah! I haven’t had mine in two years, but that’s been due to pregnancy and then breastfeeding! I’ve been loving it actually. One less thing to worry about. I do hope it comes back at some point though! My daughter is going on 14 months.

    Interesting about Victoria’s secret line. I really like their stuff. Are they doing away with the clothing line or just the rep part?

  5. Gah, CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR PERIOD!!!!!!! I was in the same boat, just not for a long. I loved it too, but I love it even more when my period comes on time each month. Been that way for almost a year, which is a great. I love so many things about this post – that JT song is my favorite. Love cold brew and ice cream and I’m totally checking out that post about getting rid of PMS!!!!
