Trying to decide which pair of lululemon leggings is right for you? Our team put some of lululemon’s most popular leggings to the test to compare different fabrics, fits, compression, durability and comfort.

I have been a group fitness instructor for over a decade, and basically live in leggings. I purchased my first pair of lululemon leggings almost ten years ago, and never looked back.

Best lululemon Leggings

A numbered chart ranking the best lululemon leggings from least compressive to more compressive

Best lululemon Leggings

  1. Align Leggings. Buttery soft and so flattering.
  2. Wunder Under Leggings. Durable enough for workouts, comfortable enough for daily wear.
  3. Fast and Free Leggings. Loved by runners for the lightweight support and side-pockets.
  4. Wunder Train Leggings. Perfect amount of compression for HIIT and strength training. 💜 Team NML Favorite Legging!

1) Align Pant

Best For: loungewear, as well as yoga/pilates, low impact workouts, and pregnancy/postpartum.

The Align High Rise Pant is the most famous pair of leggings on our list (and for good reason). If you’re going to purchase one pair of lululemon leggings, we recommend going with the Aligns. The buttery soft fabric is truly next level when it comes to comfort.

Pro tip: some of the lighter colors of Align leggings are double-lined for additional coverage. I personally avoid these colors, because I don’t like how the thicker material feels. If you see a seam down the outer thigh, it’s double-lined.

Sizing Notes: These leggings run slightly large, and come in 23″, 25″, 28″ and 31″ inseams. If you’re between sizes, we recommend sizing down. Caroline is 5’5″ and typically wears a size 4 in bottoms. She is pictured wearing her typical size in the 25″ Aligns with Pockets.

2) Wunder Under SmoothCover Tight

Best For: strength training, yoga and daily wear.

If the buttery-soft Aligns and compressive Wunder Trains had a baby, it would be the Wunder Unders.

lululemon re-launched this versatile legging at the end of 2023 with some major upgrades, resulting in a durable training legging that’s comfortable enough to wear all day.

I find the fabric to be more of a smooth support than compressive – which makes these comfortable enough for daily wear.

Sizing Notes: These leggings run true to size and come in 25″ and 28″ inseams. Lindsey is 5’8″ and wears a size 6 in bottoms. She is pictured wearing her typical size in the 25″ Wunder Unders.

3) Fast and Free Tight

Best For: running and cardio.

Although most training leggings can be used for running, the Fast and Free Leggings were truly designed for the unique needs of runners.

This lightweight fabric is sweat-wicking, fast-drying, breathable and made with four-way stretch to move with you through every stride.

We especially loved how many pocket options you have with these – three waistband pockets and two side drop-in pockets for all your essentials.

These leggings also feature subtle reflective details down the shins, which is a nice safety detail for anyone running outdoors.

Sizing Notes: These leggings run true to size and come in 25″ and 28″ inseams. Lindsey is 5’8″ and wears a size 6 in bottoms. She is pictured wearing her typical size in the 25″ Fast and Free Leggings.

4) Wunder Train Tight

Best For: strength training, hiking, hot yoga and spin classes/cycling.

The Wunder Train High Rise Tight is a staple for our team. This is our most-worn legging for our own workouts as well as filming days, because the performance fabric can truly hold up to any workout.

These leggings have more compression through the waist and hips, providing more of a “hugged in” feeling and really good shape retention. This provides some support and means you never have to yank up your leggings mid-workout.

We also love that the Wunder Trains come in two fits: Classic and Contour Fit. The Contour Fit features an adjusted hip-to-waist ratio perfect for athletic or curvy builds. The Contour Fit is more snug at the waist and has extra room through the hips and thighs.

Sizing Notes: These leggings run true to size, and come in 23″, 25″, 28″ and 31″ inseams. Megan is 5’5″ and typically wears a size 8 in bottoms. She is pictured wearing her typical size in the 25″ Wunder Train Contour Fit.

  1. Your comment just talks about the contour fit. What is the classic fit like?

    • Hi DanaLynn! Thanks for checking out our leggings review — we love the standard Wunder Train Leggings and they have a normal hip-to-waist ratio so standard leggings they are just a bit more compressive and made for strength and HIIT workouts! I hope that helps! -Lindsey
