What Is Tahini?

Tahini is a paste or “butter” made from ground sesame seeds. Tahini is a great substitute for nut butter, and I recommend it if you have a nut allergy or have kiddos in a nut free school. It’s also high in protein, so it makes a great addition to energy balls and other baked goods.

Do I Have To Use Tahini In This Recipe?

You can sub any seed or nut butter for the tahini if you’d prefer! Cashew butter, almond butter and peanut butter are great options. You can also customize this recipe by mixing in chopped raisins or dried fruit, or by subbing maple syrup for the honey.

How Do I Store Protein Balls?

Store your protein balls in an airtight container in the fridge for 1-2 weeks. You can also freeze for longer storage.
