Dear God,
Devotional: Encourage One Another {Hebrews 10:24-25}
‘Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meetings together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another…’ {Hebrews 10:24-25}
Earlier this week I posted on Instagram that I have a goal of doing 10 consecutive pull ups by August…and then I encouraged others to share their goals too.
I love reading other people’s goals, but I’m sure a lot of people just scrolled on by without commenting because if you’re anything like me sharing goals aloud taps into one of my biggest fears — failure to meet X goal.
But sharing goals aloud with others also holds me more accountable to those goals.
Just like how sharing my faith aloud through weekly devotional posts here holds me accountable to my daily devotional work + goals to grow stronger in my faith + relationship with God.
You see both of these require others.
I’ve mentioned before that it’s easy for me to draw parallels between my physical + spiritual life and I think the framework I’ve developed for achieving physical goals also translates into spiritual goals:
- Be patient, physical + spiritual transformations take time.
- Respect the goal, do the work, put in the time + effort.
- Surround yourself with others that will support + encourage you towards the goal.
Devotional Prayer
Dear God,
You’ve created us to be + show love to others {John 13:34; 1 John 4}.
Show me how I can encourage those around me;
and thank you for the encouragement I receive from others.
