Director of Operations Job Description

NML is looking for a Director of Operations (DOO) to partner with our Founder. This is a pivotal role designed to run the business day-to-day.

This role requires leading operations across a multi-platform digital brand with 7 revenue streams, an evolving content ecosystem, and a rapidly expanding community.

The Director of Operations will be a strategic partner and responsible for turning the company vision into an executable, measurable, and sustainable plan. You’ll manage the full-time team, oversee systems and workflows, and ensure operational excellence across all 7 revenue streams.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership:

  • Serve as the Integrator in the EOS framework (EOS experience preferred, but not required) – lead weekly Level 10 (L10) meetings, manage Rocks and Scorecards, and ensure company priorities are met.
  • Translate strategic goals into quarterly and monthly action plans with clear accountability, developing SOPs as needed.
  • Establish measurable operational KPIs and build dashboards or scorecards that provide visibility into performance across all revenue streams.
  • Develop and maintain consistent SOPs to support scalability, efficiency, and team alignment.
  • Oversee and optimize internal systems (Monday.com, Google Drive, Google Analytics, etc.) for efficiency and consistency.
  • Forecast business capacity and operational needs across ad revenue, partnerships, memberships, and new initiatives.
  • Create go-to-market roadmaps for new company initiatives launching in 2026.

Team Management:

  • Directly manage and develop a team of 4 full-time employees and a group of contractors.
  • Build a culture of ownership, clarity, and accountability.
  • Ensure alignment between departments (content, brand partnerships, creative, and production).

Financial and Systems Oversight:

  • Partner with the CEO and accounting team to track and report on monthly and quarterly P&L, cash flow, and profitability.
  • Analyze performance across all digital revenue channels to identify trends, opportunities, and operational improvements.
  • Identify efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Support forecasting and modeling for new membership-based revenue initiatives.

Project and Partnership Execution:

  • Drive execution of launches and content initiatives from start to finish.
  • Manage timelines, resources, and communication between departments and partners.
  • Serve as the central operational communication link between content, partnerships, creative, production, and accounting teams.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of projects aligned with brand standards and audience expectations.

Leadership and Culture:

  • Operationalize upcoming membership-based product development, including pricing, launch planning, member experience, and ongoing retention strategies.
  • Champion a positive, high-performance culture aligned with NML’s mission and values.
  • Be a stabilizing force – grounded, decisive, organized, and a data-driven decision maker.
  • Represent operational excellence in a creative, fast-moving environment.
  • Proactive interest in learning emerging technologies and AI.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in business operations, preferably in online media, digital content, or e-commerce.
  • Experience as an Integrator within an EOS organization is preferred.
  • Experience partnering directly with a founder or visionary leader, including the ability to bring structure, prioritization, and calm to a fast-paced, idea-driven environment.
  • Strong people leadership skills – able to motivate, coach, and hold teams accountable.
  • Excellent project management and systems-building skills; familiarity with tools like Monday.com, Google Drive, and Google Analytics.
  • Financial literacy – comfortable reading P&Ls and making data-driven decisions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to turn ideas into structured, actionable plans.
  • Comfortable working in a small but high-performing remote team with hybrid in-person collaboration in Minneapolis.
  • Passion for health, wellness, and empowering women through fitness is a plus.

Competencies:

  • Strategic Thinking: Able to translate high-level vision into structured plans, priorities, and measurable outcomes.
  • Operational Excellence: Builds and optimizes systems, processes, and workflows that create clarity and consistency across the business.
  • Financial Acumen: Understands P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and digital revenue analytics. Uses data to drive decisions.
  • Project Leadership: Able to manage complex, cross-functional projects from planning through execution with accountability at every stage.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Motivates, coaches, and holds team members accountable while maintaining a positive, supportive culture.
  • Founder Partnership: Thrives working directly with a visionary leader. Brings calm, prioritization, structure, and execution to a fast-moving environment.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Communicates clearly and professionally. Builds trust, alignment, and shared understanding across teams.
  • Change Management: Comfortable leading through growth, new initiatives, evolving priorities, and shifting business needs.

What Success Looks Like:

  • The business runs smoothly day-to-day without constant CEO involvement.
  • Predictable operating rhythms (L10 meetings, scorecards, quarterly planning) are consistently followed across the team.
  • The CEO is able to focus on content creation, partnerships, and vision while trusting operations are running smoothly and reliably.
  • Clear systems, scorecards, and EOS accountability structures are in place.
  • Projects are delivered on time and on brand.
  • Team members thrive in their roles and understand priorities and KPIs.

Benefits

  • Flexible hybrid schedule (Minneapolis-based)
  • Simple IRA match of 3%
  • Summer Fridays off (outside special events/needs) June 1-September 1 (14 Fridays off)
  • 20 days of paid time off, plus holidays

  2. I get your weekly email with workout routines and am REALLY enjoying them! If you ever need someone to help with your accounting needs I can help remotely! I’m a semi retired inactive CPA looking to start up a bookkeeping business with a couple clients. Would love to help out if ever needed! Thanks, Nancy

  3. I have to share this story. I listened to Lindsay’s Athlete’s in Sports podcast this morning while walking my dog and thought, I’d love to work with her! Then in my inbox, there’s the “we’re hiring” email.
Unfortunately and fortunately, I live in Maine. I have a BS in Health Fitness and have been teaching group exercise and personal training for 24 years now. I love Lindsay’s style and incorporate some of her exercises into my routines. I wish I had a Rachel with me when I’m teaching. Keep up the good work!
