I get many questions and comments about the watch I’ve been wearing in my home workouts – it’s the Garmin Venu 2 Plus.

The Garmin Venu 2 Plus is a great choice if you want a running watch that also functions as a solid health tracker and smartwatch. 

The Garmin Venu 2 Plus includes endless amounts of features to keep your health on track. The sleep tracking capability has been my favorite as better sleep is one of my personal goals this year. I can actually wear the watch overnight to track my sleep because it has a nine-day battery life – the best I’ve ever seen on a fitness tracker. 

Garmin’s addition of the optical heart rate monitor on the Venu 2 Plus means you will get all-day heart rate tracking. This feature is important to me as two of my immediate family members have ICDs (implantable cardioverter-defibrillators) installed due to a heart condition called Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM).

Most think heart health means doing a lot of cardio, but it is so much more than that. Heart health includes sleep, daily steps, stress and cycle tracking, hydration and nutrition. I use and love the Garmin Venu 2 Plus because it helps me keep track of everything.

Is The Garmin Venu 2 Plus Worth Buying?

Yes! The Garmin Venu 2 Plus tracks a ton of metrics including your stress, heart rate, sleep, and fitness activity level to gauge your body’s energy levels. Plus it has a nine-day battery life which is the best I’ve ever seen on a fitness tracker. You can track specific workouts including strength training, high intensity interval training or yoga and stretching workouts.

What Can You Do With The Garmin Venu 2 Plus?

The features included on Garmin Venu 2 Plus allow you to track your overall health. This includes your sleep, heart rate, body battery, workouts, steps, and menstrual cycle or pregnancy. It even includes a heart rate monitor and ECG feature to record electrical signals that monitor how your heart beats. 

How Much Does The Garmin Venu 2 Plus Cost?

The Garmin Venu 2 Plus is priced at $449.99 (it will cost you $100 more than the Garmin Venu 2). While it’s a pricier smartwatch option, the variety of health-related features are worth it. You can choose from three color options and three face sizes. For reference, I have the Cream Gold Stainless Steel Bezel with Ivory Case in size 43mm watch face.

The Garmin Venu 2 Plus provides more accurate, comprehensive tools to better track your body’s overall health. Plus it has a nine-day battery life compared to the 18-hour battery life of the Apple Watch.

Do You Have To Have Apple Or Android To Connect The Watch To Your Phone?

Both Apple and Android phones can connect to your Garmin watch. This allows you to receive texts and calls through the smartwatch, in addition to other notifications that come through on your smartphone.

Track all of your health and fitness stats in one place, with no subscription required. The smartwatch features include:

  1. Fitness Tracking: Track all the ways you move with more than 25 preloaded GPS and indoor sports apps — including walking, running, cycling, pool swimming, golf, strength training, high intensity interval training, and more.
  2. Body Battery Energy Monitoring: This watch will review your stress, heart rate, sleep and activity level to gauge your body’s overall energy level throughout the day. This can show you when your body is charged up and ready for activity or drained and in need of rest. 
  3. Stress: Find out if you’re having a calm or stressful day with continuous tracking. Relaxation reminders will prompt you to do a short breathing activity when the watch detects high levels of stress.
  4. Heart Rate Monitor: Samples your heart rate multiple times per second and lets you know if it stays too high or too low when you’re resting.
  5. Garmin ECG Feature: The ECG feature uses sensors to record the electrical signals that control how your heart beats. It can analyze recordings to detect signs of an irregular heart rhythm called atrial fibrillation (AFib).

  10. Respiration Tracking: See how you’re breathing throughout the day, during sleep or during fitness activities.
  11. Smart Notifications: Receive emails, texts and alerts right on your watch when paired with your Apple or Android smartphone. When connected with your compatible smartphone, you can make and take phone calls right from the watch.
  12. Safety and tracking features: If you’re ever in need of assistance, easily share a message with your live location with preselected contacts when your watch and compatible smartphone are paired. You can even assign a designated emergency contact that your watch can call, such as local emergency services.
  13. Water-Resistant: No need to remove the watch if you’re spending a day in the water or swimming (but they do suggest removing the watch when showering as soap exposure can damage the watch).

Garmin Venu 2 Plus Review: Is It Worth It?

This watch is absolutely worth it in my opinion. As an athlete, I value and prioritize proper fitness tracking and recovery, improved sleep and keeping my heart healthy. 

Pros of Garmin

  1. Accurate, Complete Health Tracking. This watch has several incredible features to track not only your workouts and steps, but your overall heath and wellness. It accurately tracks GPS, sleep quality, workouts, stress levels, blood oxygen levels and more to give you a complete picture of your wellness.
  2. Incredible Battery Life. The nine-day battery life is superior to other smartwatches and a very convenient feature.
  3. Impressive Connectivity. This smartwatch will easily pair with your Apple or Android smartphone, allowing you to receive texts, calls, emails and alerts.
  4. Comfortable and Stylish. This watch is available in three different color options and three face sizes, so you can pick the one that best fits your style.

Cons of Garmin

  1. Model Limitations. The Venu 2 Plus does not have on-watch maps, which are reserved for Garmin’s more expensive watch models. Some reviewers said there are limitations in the third-party apps available for download, though I personally don’t mind this as the health and wellness tracking is most important to me.
  2. Price Point. Priced at around $449, the Garmin Venu 2 Plus in a pricier smartwatch option. That said, I think the extensive features, accuracy in tracking and nine-day battery life make this a worthwhile investment.
