We’re in a Revelations series at our church and this past Sunday’s sermon really weighed on my heart.
I’ve never read the book of Revelations, chapter by chapter; it’s always kind of intimidated me. But I’m finally doing it!
And this verse, Revelation 1:8, brings me back to a question I’ve been asking myself a lot lately — who am I putting first? What is the alpha in my life?
As somewhat of an alpha-female, and human, I tend to put my needs, wants, and selfish desires first. It’s always been a work in progress to lift my eyes up to Jesus first thing in the morning.
In fact, just this week I downloaded the Proverbs 31 Ministries First 5 app in effort to find a new ‘summer rhythm’.
If God is the first and the last, the beginning and the end; then I exist so he can work ‘through’ me.
To let this really sink I’ve been listening to one of my favorite Bethel Music worship songs, It is Well, on repeat.
And through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
And through it all, through it all
It is well
Dear God,
Help me remember that I exist so you can work ‘through’ me — because you are the Alpha and the Omega, who is, and who was, and who is to come.
So through it it all keep me eyes fixed on you.
