Need to detox from a day {or week} of sweets? Like that big bowl of leftover Halloween candy that’s been calling your name every night before bed?
When I think healthy recipes to help me kick sugar cravings and tighten up, I think slow cooker vegetable detox soup; especially during soup season! It’s basically all of the most colorful vegetables simmered together in a warm pot of goodness. This nutrient-packed vegetable soup pretty much screams ‘fresh start and nutritional reboot’ any day of the week. Not to mention, it’s great for sick days.
This recipe is just as easy on the digestive system as it is easy to make. Simply place all the vibrant green and orange colored veggies in a large pot or slow cooker, let simmer for four hours and you have a week full of healthy nourishment.Â
Detox Vegetable Soup + Broth
This vitamin-rich and fiber-filled, detox vegetable soup recipe is vegetarian. Keeping the recipe meat-free makes it a lot easier on the digestive track, which is great if you are trying to detox. However, the lack of protein tends to leave me un-satisfied, and it’s just not an option to omit protein while I’m pregnant. So I usually add a can of garbanzo beans if I’m trying to go meat-free. Otherwise I’ve been adding protein in the form of cooked ground turkey.
This would also be a great recipe to add vital proteins collagen peptides to for additional protein and digestive support {not to mention a little collagen-boost for your skin, hair and nails while you detox}.
You can strain the veggies and enjoy the nutrient-rich broth on it’s own too. It makes for a savory and satisfying ‘tea’ at night, and I personally love sipping this vegetable broth elixir when I’m sick.
If you’re looking to really clean up your diet for an extended 3-day to one week timeframe I highly recommend pairing this detox vegetable soup with a couple warm mugs of my daily detox tea with lemon, ginger and turmeric.
