One of the best parts about having a blog is having an index of years and memories captured {and getting some of my favorite pictures ever with my son, Brody}.

From when it all started in 2015, to navigating a blog as a business in 2016, to quite possibly the most difficult year of my life, yet somehow growing site traffic x7 in 2017, to finding the groove of this whole mompreneur thing in 2018.

Looking back at the past three year-in-review posts is a true reflection of the sweat equity that’s gone into this blog.

I still have plenty of days when I question what I’m doing, but I’m so glad I kept pushing forward. For the first year ever, I can confidently call this blog a real business. A business I’ve built with the help of so many amazing friends and mentors. I’ve worked SO STINKING HARD for this.

That said, I fully recognize that this blog, my business, wouldn’t exist without YOU! People who actually come visit the site, do the workouts, make the recipes, and read the devotionals. So THANK YOU! Thank you for clicking over to this little corner of the internet every now and then. My mission is that you’ll always find some motivation and inspiration to create a lifestyle and body you love!

Now let’s dive into the highlights of 2018!

NML Highlights of 2018

Note, this is my business highlight reel; but there’s still A LOT of trial and error that goes into this business daily. Complete transparency, I’ve worked harder than I’ve ever worked in my life the past three years, and I haven’t taken home a paycheck. My business finally started making money in 2017. Although I do contribute to some of our household expenses, I haven’t actually paid myself since I started in 2015. Rather, I’ve chosen to re-invest everything back into the business so I can hire amazing contractors, like part-time help and a video team, to grow this business.

I owe a sincere thank you to my husband who works his butt off to financially support us during this season. A goal I’ve started writing down daily, thank you Rachel Hollis and Start Today Journal, is to financially support my family so my husband can in-turn pursue his passion projects.

What’s next for NML?

  1. More workouts + hopefully full-length workout videos! I love filming workout videos, and I wish I could give away all the free, full-length workout videos, but they are expensive to film. So they typically require brand partnerships. I’m hoping to lock in some brand sponsors so we can continue to share more full length workout videos!
  2. More Rachel. Rachel, my amazing right-hand lady who does SO MUCH behind the scenes work at NML is coming on 35+ hours a week {she’s been with me 20 hours a week this year}. More bandwidth and hopefully less late night work sessions for this mama!
  3. More SEO. We recently invested in an SEO course and tool so we are doing lots of behind the scenes work to update old posts and creating new content that is more user-friendly, and Google-search friendly.
  4. Fit for Her MPLS 4th Annual Event is officially happening on Saturday, March 2nd. Mark your calendars and make sure you’re on my email list, more details to come. I’ll be teaming up with Stacie from The Real Food RD’s again for this event with all proceeds benefiting The Her Initiative.
  5. A Free Mini E-Course Video Series. I’m launching the first of what I hope to be a series of videos around topics you’ve been asking about. The first video, 7 Day Weeknight Dinner Meal Prep Guide, will go live in January 2019! Sneak peek photo below, ekk!

These are my plans, but the majority of my content creation comes from direct asks from you, my audience. I’m always open to your ideas and suggestions — email me [email protected]

No surprises here! The Lemon Ginger Detox Tea continues to be the number one viewed post on the blog since it was published in 2016. I’ve really cut back on recipe posts in 2018 as recipe development and photography isn’t my area of expertise, but I do plan to continue to sprinkle them into my editorial calendar. Below are the top 5 recipes of the year:

  1. Lemon Ginger Detox Tea {published in 2016}
  2. Energy Boosting Kale Smoothie {published in 2017}
  3. 25 Healthy Meal Prep Breakfast Recipes {published in 2017}
  4. Simple Green Juice for Beginners {published in 2015}
  5. 3-Ingredient Cookies {published in 2016}

My personal favorite recipes published this year — Meal Prep Spinach Banana Pancakes and Easy Crockpot Chicken Fajitas.

    Thank you for all your hardworking, time and effort you put into your site, workouts and community! I don’t even remember how I came across your blog back in March 2017, but it was my saving grace, being a mamma of 2 littles, I had found out of my Diastasis Recti when my 2nd daughter was 4months, and your workouts were exactly the style I was used to from being in the gym setting and personal trainers for so long!
