Things I Love and More {November 2015}

my favorite things november 2015

so here’s how it’s going down. i am going to share things that bring a big, squinty-eyed smile to my face. like 3 things i personally love right now, 3 things i’m currently working on {accountability goals} and 3 things for the fit girl in you.

my favorite things november 2015 - family photo punta cana

3 things i personally love right now

  1. family vacation. i mean i just got back from punta cana and i pretty much have the best family ever.
  2. hot beverages. i pretty much sip away winter with a big mug of hot ginger and lemon water, yogi detox tea, coffee with heavy cream, more tea and turmeric golden milk.
  3. Kari Jobe’s song ‘We Are.’ i can’t quite bring myself to turn on the holiday tunes yet, but this song plays on repeat as i type away at my computer all day.

my favorite things november 2015 - elizabeth gilbert's book big magic

3 things i’m currently working on

  1. reading before bed. i love to read but i rarely do it. i started reading elizabeth gilberts book ‘big magic’ on vacation and instead of shelving it now that i’m back to reality, i want to make time to read in bed while i sip my hot tea and doze off.
  2. contentment. with the hustle and bustle of black friday, cyber monday and retailers everywhere handing out deals it’s easy to convince myself that i need more ‘things’ {specifically yoga pants and a lulu bag}. but in reality i don’t need any of it {but that doesn’t mean a girl can’t create a christmas list}.
  3. making a wedding album. seven months later, i still haven’t uploaded a single picture to mixbook, where i’ve been planning to make wedding albums for me and my family. since i’m planning to make those christmas gifts, i better get to it!

3 things for the fit girl in you {scratch that: top 10 holiday gifts for the fit girl}

so normally i share 3 things for the fit girl in you, but this month i’m sharing my top 10 gifts for the fit girl. some of these items are things i have and love and others are on my ever-expanding christmas wish list.

my favorite things november 2015 - bella electric tea kettle
photo from target.com

5 gifts i have, love and use daily:

  1. lemon squeezer. it’s $7.99 at target and worth every penny to squeeze fresh lemons into warm water every morning. it’s right up there with the $10 milk frother as my favorite, cheap kitchen items.
  2. electric tea kettle. naturally you need to heat your warm lemon water and tea and the stylish, Bella electric tea kettle is my personal favorite. have you ever microwaved water and then watered a plant with the water…it kills the plant. invest in a good tea kettle.
  3. activity tracker. i have the garmin vivosmart and i’m kind of obsessed with it and how many steps i get daily.
  4. wireless bluetooth headphones. when i’m not teaching classes i workout with my jaybird headphones it’s the only way to do plyometrics with music. once you go wireless you won’t go back, i promise.
  5. haulin hooks. double your deadlift in a matter of weeks with these bad boys. i got the lpg muscle haulin hooks for christmas last year and i haven’t deadlifted a day without them.

*i would of course include my vitamix as my favorite kitchen item, but it’s a bit pricey for gift giving.

5 gifts on my christmas list:

  1. leg warmers. of all colors, patterns and fabrics, i just love them. i particularly love these sticky be socks ‘be loved marbled leg warmers.’
  2. daily planner. schedule workouts, meal prep and every waking moment of your life with the emily ley simplified planner, every ‘type a’ women’s version of a bible.
  3. athletic clothing with a purpose. leave a mark that matters and give the gift of athletic tops with a bible verse on the inside from branded by j. otto. i have the jennifer top in white but want it in gray too.
  4. lululemon vinyasa scarf. watch the video on the 10 different ways to wear it…sold.
  5. scripture verse cards. pay it forward with carly d design’s scripture verse cards. you meditate on and memorize scripture and carly d design works with future hope to donates a bible to someone in Haiti. she has super cute scripture tees and tanks too.
