i didn’t know if it was possible for me to produce a green smoothie with less than 5 ingredients, but i was in desperate need of groceries so i scavenged all that i had left in the fridge and cupboard and came up with this little green gem.
although the ingredient list is small, this green smoothie is packed with omega-3 fatty acids, soluble fiber, and even a little bit of protein thanks to the 1 tbsp of chia seeds. these tiny seeds can be sprinkled on top of just about any meal or snack {like cacao oatmeal} to add an extra umpf.
when soaked with your choice of milk or water and blended with a cup of fresh greens or fruit, one tablespoon of chia seeds can add thickness to your go-to smoothie, not to mention a dose healthy fats, fiber, protein, and antioxidants as well.
ps – the healthy fats found in chia seeds also help you absorb all the other great nutrients found in the spinach and blueberries blended into this smoothie too.
